Autonomous Vehicle
Standards

A NextGov.com article makes the case that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration can use international, consensus standards to improve security and risk instead of having to pick from competing car company’s internal standards. The author, Jack Weast, Intel fellow and Mobileye Vice President, states that standards from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will provide the most uniform approach to Autonomous Vehicle safety. The ALN supports the use of international, consensus standards as a standard operating procedure and expands on why there is value to the business process in a paper linked below.

Internal Controls

Richard Culbertson, ALN Board Member and ALN Senior Fellow has written a short paper with a lot of teeth. “Management Systems Standards Work Within an Internal Control Framework” states that adoption of management standards, including ISO 55K, is required by law for organizations that obtain or use funds from the U.S. Federal Government.  In a few pages of text and extensive references, Mr. Culbertson provides some of the most targeted support for leaders wanting to improve mission outcomes in a structured manner. See the 5-page paper at this link
