ALN Newsletter 4 January 2022

Happy New Year! We think 2022 is going to be a lot better than last
year. But that is what we thought about 2021…so don’t let up, keep vigilant, and stay focused on your measurements of success.

We are starting our 2022 ALN Th@3 pm ET discussion program series with Dominic Townsend, President, ABS Quality Evaluation, and ALN Board of Directors member, who will be talking with Jim Dieter about ALN increased programming in 2022.

People

As President of ABS Quality Evaluations, Dominic Townsend has global clients who want to be certified as complying with a host of international standards. Mr. Townsend saw that Central and South America have considerably more ISO 55001 certified organizations than in the United States. Two of his clients, Brazilian energy provider ENEL, and energy provider AES South America, contributed to a special ALN Español set of programs as part of our 2021 annual conference. Learn more insights on the value of ISO 55001 certification and the expansion of ALN programing in 2022.

President’s Management Agenda

President Biden’s Management Agenda has three primary objectives: 1) Empower the Government Workforce, 2) Improve Customer Experience, 3) Improve Managing the Business of Government. Instituting a structured approach to asset management would address all three objectives in a substantial way.

Robyn’s Hill Op-Ed

Dorothy Robyn, former head of facilities for both the DOD and GSA, and guest on ALN programs, has a recent Op-Ed in The Hill on the use of the vast buying power of the U.S. Federal Government to accelerate demand for clean energy products and innovations. This is a topic she has mentioned in her past ALN program appearances and aligns perfectly with the President’s Management Agenda.

ALN’s New Year’s Resolution – Look into Collective Impact

Collective Impact is a framework that calls on different stakeholders – governments, businesses, nonprofits, institutions – to work together in a structured manner to impact mutually beneficial outcomes. Described as the opposite side of the Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) coin, it appears that a structured approach to asset management, such as ISO 55000, is a perfect fit for these organizational mindsets. Is it a coincidence that they are all emerging at the same time? We will let you know what we find.
