Nick Knoke, ALN, Director, Technology, provides an excellent insight into the ways we can engage young professionals to engage and grow in asset management. After spending years working for the ALN doing website development, web-event production, and more, Nick got the ALN A55K Professional Certification in 2020, which means he understood how to use ISO 55000/1/2 to assist an organization improve asset management. He has since doven much deeper into ALN content and is now a program facilitator and content shaper. As the father of a 2-year-old girl with another girl on the way, Mr. Knoke says:
“Our efforts transcend the immediate gains; they are an investment in a future for the next generation. This Thanksgiving, let that truth resonate even more deeply as you contemplate those in your community, for they are living reminders of the profound impact our work can have on the future.”

GAO Report on Deferred Maintenance

The U.S. Government Accountability Office published a report last Friday titled “Federal Real Property: Agencies Should Provide More Information About Increases in Deferred Maintenance and Repair.” The report addresses issues at four agencies, but provides information that is useful to all federal agencies and is applicable to other organizations as well. On January 10, 2024, the ALN is happy to co-facilitate an in-person presentation at the National Academy of Sciences about the report, comments from federal agencies, and applicable insights from the “Strategies to Renew Federal Facilities” from National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine; Division on Engineering and Physical SciencesBoard on Infrastructure and the Constructed EnvironmentCommittee on a Strategy to Renew Federal Facilities. Learning from CoRETECH 2023

RealComm, an organization focused on the intersection of technology, innovation, and real estate, held its annual CoRETECH conference last week. Kimon Onuma, President, ONUMA, Inc., an ALN Platinum Member, attended the event and created a special report for us.
