The ALN Th@3 pm ET web program this Thursday 27 July at 3 pm ET will feature ALN Board of Directors member Jack Kelly talking about a program he helped establish that saves the U.S. Federal Government billions of dollars in airline ticket fees and how that approach can transfer to federal asset management. Jacobs: Challenging today.
Reinventing tomorrow.

People

Jack Kelly, was with the Office of Management and Budget when he worked with GSA, DOD and other agencies to establish the City Pair Program airline flight purchasing initiative in 1980. When the program started it covered 11 markets. The GSA reports it now covers 13,000 markets and is projected to save the federal government $2.4 billion in fiscal 2024. Mr. Kelly will be talking about the innovative thinking that led to the establishment of this program, which has saved about $1 billion a year since 1980, and how similar thinking can led to even more asset management savings across the federal portfolio. Others will be joining the discussion.

GAO Zero Emissions Vehicle Report

As you would suspect, transitioning to a Zero Emissions Fleet will be a huge undertaking for the U.S. Federal Government – and everyone in the world. The U.S. Government Accountability Office has conducted a report on the topic and has released a number of findings in the Federal Fleets: Zero-Emission Vehicle Implementation report. This is a significant issue that can benefit from an asset management governance approach.
