Portland, Oregon Asset Management Policy

It is an honor to announce that the City of Portland, Oregon council unanimously passed an Asset Management Policy. The Policy outlines requirements for creation and use of an asset maturity tool. It also prescribes that asset management and life cycle costing be used in plans, capital programs, and major projects. The Asset Management Policy also includes specific language about using asset management to advancing equity in the city. Chris Silkie, Portland’s Parks & Recreation Asset Manager and a member of the ALN Advancing Equity with Asset Leadership Committee helped wrote the Policy. Mr. Silkie said that his involvement in the ALN supported inclusion of equity language in the Policy. Mr. Silkie will be speaking on Portland, Oregon’s Asset Management Policy in a Roundtable on Wednesday 3 November at 3 pm. Register at this link.
