Data-Driven Solutions
for Risk and Reliability

People

Kris Goly has been involved in asset management for a few decades. He was actively involved in the creation of ISO 55000 and now, as the Chair of the US Technical Advisory Group contributing to rewriting the series of standards, he has a highly influential role. In 2014, Mr. Goly was quoted as saying, “Although the standard is brand new, I believe that some companies are almost ready to be certified,” he says. “For example, those that use ISO 9000 and other management standards and good practices will find it relatively easy to implement and become compliant with ISO 55000. It could take them just a few months, maybe six or 12 months, to be fully compliant.” We will learn if he feels this is still true, what key changes to look for in the revised ISO 55000, and how involvement in the US TAG can benefit an organization. Approach Lead Water Line Replacement Like Newark and N.J.

NorthJersey.com cites leadership by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy as part of the reason Newark replaced more than 20,000 pipes in about two years. The publication compares that measurement to Flint, Michigan, which has replaced about 10,000 pipes in five years. With Newark about to complete an incredibly arduous task, the municipality shows that seemingly impossible tasks can be achieved with top leadership support. Gov. Murphy recently signed a 3-bill package that calls for replacing all lead lines in the State within 10 years. Only the third state in the U.S. to enact such legislation, New Jersey provides an example for other States.

Special congratulations to Steve Holland

Steve Holland and others at LMI were honored with Editorial Awards at the recent NPMA National Education Seminar in Reno, Nevada. Congratulations to Mr. Holland, Alex Barrenblit, Sabrina Nguyen and Susan Morrill, who all received the Editor’s Choice Award for their article, “Federal Facilities Warehouses and Government Property Storage: Everything Connected.” Mr. Holland, Mr. Barenblitt, and Sabrina Nguyen also won an award for Literary Excellence. One is titled, “ISO 5500: A Strategic Look at Asset Management and Creating a Culture of Excellence.” Completing the sweep, Mr. Holland won awards for Literary Excellence for his solo pieces, “Federal Government Property: Is it Sensitive, Classified or COMSEC?” and “Federal Fleet Vehicles: Managing an Optimal Fleet Profile when They’re Always on the Move.” That is a lot of Literary muscle at LMI. Special congratulations to Mr. Holland for his involvement with all the winning articles. NPMA members can access the articles through their account.
