Data-Driven Solutions
for Risk and Reliability

People

Kimon Onuma, FAIA, has a decades-long career innovating in the architecture industry, the technology industry, and is a leader in making architecture technology accessible and meaningful to all relevant stakeholders. By making Building Information Models (BIM) that allow people to see complex data about buildings – and all the assets in and around buildings – Mr. Onuma has also become a leader in the Asset Management world. His work with the DoD, VA, OMB and others helped his team win an ALN Impact Award in 2016. He has presented numerous times to the ALN, and in early 2020 helped the ALN by leading a BIMStorm – an online brainstorm using BIM – to help people understand how to quickly plan field hospitals. And he was instrumental in connecting the ALN to the National Institute of Building Sciences and the U.S. Department of State. This chat is definitely going into over time.

reStructuring America – Building on Success Agenda

The ALN is fortunate to have so many expert professionals willing to spend their time sharing the latest knowledge accumulated on the subject of asset leadership and asset management. Just looking at the agenda for this year’s annual web conference you can see the current state of asset management in the U.S. and around the world. There are more people willing to share their asset leadership and asset management success stories. There are increased efforts to identify and measure the dramatic value from asset management. There are more industry sectors identifying asset management as an area for improving mission success and increasing profitability. Even if you don’t have time for any of the 33 programs offered during the conference, check out the agenda and see the important issues in asset management today.

Ideas

ISO 55001 Visualized in 3D

A 2-minute video of the ISO 55001 main requirements provides an impressive understanding of the document, without using any voice over. The animated graphic (like we mentioned last week) provides an excellent understanding of how to use a structured approach to asset management that almost anyone can understand. Created by David Albrice, Principal, AIM, the video is something you will probably watch many times and share with many people. We are working to get Mr. Albrice involved in the ALN so he can share his many educational animations and insights with us.

ABS Group provides data-driven risk and reliability solutions and technical services that help our clients confirm the safety, integrity, quality and environmental efficiency of their critical assets and operations.
